Marialaya Children Home for girls located at Broadway, Chennai. It is an institution for the children in need of care and protection under the section 34(3) of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2000.Marialaya works out in moulding the future of the street and slum children with residential care. Before admitting ,the child will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee keeping the child safety in concern. Marialaya provide the children with permanent residential care facilities for the children who are in need of care and protection till the age of 18.Our residential care facilities include children with health care, nutrition, education, awareness creation, recreational and Psycho-social support.
OPEN SHELTER FOR STREET CHILDREN
Open shelter will come under Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) which is supported by the Ministry of Women and Child development. The main objectives of this program is to contribute and improve the wellbeing of children in difficult circumstances as well as to the reduction of vulnerabilities to situation and action that lead abuse, Neglect, exploitation, abandonment and separation of children. In Marialaya short stay home (Open Shelter) we admit vulnerable children who are in distress condition, particularly beggers, street and working children, rag pickers, orphaned, deserted, trafficked and run away children in between the age group of 6-18 years. Mostly we admit girls who are rescued by Child line, Street Contact or through other referral Services. We provide them with temporary residential care facilities for the period of 3-6 months. Meantime, the children are referred to CWC (Child Welfare Committee) for further course of action.
